From Jay Phelps
Dear Bartholomew County,
It has been one of my life’s greatest joys serving the people of Bartholomew County. When I first began as Elections Deputy in 2011, I never imagined what my journey would have in store over the next ten years in the people’s Court House. It was my mission to serve the community I love by bringing a fresh perspective to the county clerk’s office and I am extremely proud of my staff and what we have accomplished together.
While I will miss the office, staff, and all the familiar faces, it is with great excitement I announce that I have accepted the position with the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State as Director of Election Modernization, Administration, and Special Projects. My last official day in Bartholomew County will be Friday, April 16th.
I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing to serve Hoosiers on behalf and at the discretion of Indiana Secretary of State Holli Sullivan. It is Secretary Sullivan’s top priority to modernize Indiana’s election administration and ensure Hoosier voters are heard in the election process. I am humbled by the trust she has bestowed upon me as a member of her staff and look forward to contributing to these initiatives.
To the people of Bartholomew County, I thank you all for trusting in me to serve and represent you. Lastly, I want to thank my wife, Emily, my wonderful children, and my entire family for all your support. Your love and encouragement have had such an amazing impact on my life and will continue to guide me in my service to our wonderful community.
Sincerely,
Jay Phelps
